Speedchild – If These Streets Were A Prison

Speedchild 1

Today we are chilling with a rapper who has been on the underground music scene for a while now. HipHop Lead meet Speedchild.

HipHopLEAD: For starts where did the name come from?

Speedchild: Speedchild was tagged on me from a close friend since I was a child. I moved through life “very fast” & I’m still doing the same.

HipHopLEAD: Being the majority of music from New York takes place in the 5 boroughs, do you feel there is too much competition to actually get your shine on?

Speedchild: There isn’t any competition with me. We all have to sell. NY is big, there’s someone out there to buy your product once its promoted & marketed right, getting your shine is the least to worry about.

HipHopLEAD: (Laughs) ..Very true. What made you pick up a mic and get busy?

Speedchild: Dumb rappers made me do it & also since I couldn’t find a job after my release from prison. I had to show I’m grinding, so why not do what most ex felons do, “make music” all legal!

HipHopLEAD: How long have you been rocking the mic for?

Speedchild: I been doing this on a “get my money up level” for 4 years now.

HipHopLEAD: Are you doing anything else other then rapping? Producing? Mixing? etc?

Speedchild: I been producing some of my material on the upcoming mixtape. So, Yes, I do get busy.

HipHopLEAD: For those that don’t know what made you create “If These Streets Were A Prison”?

Speedchild: I created “If These Streets Were A Prison” mainly because i dont like the way some human acts and live their life in the free world.

In prison, there are 100’s of good people looking for a 2nd chance to do good 1 last time but out here in the free world. Some humans take everything for granted so it really pisses me off a lot to see kids wanna be like Lil Wayne, Tyga or Drake & it gets under my skin to hear little girls want to be a Barbie. Where’s the doctors, where’s the attorney, where’s the teachers, the stock brokers? When will we understand that life is more than living through a Lil wayne or Jay-z song? I hope you do understand why I made the song, “If These Streets Were A Prison”.

HipHopLEAD: Lets play on that scenario .. “If These Streets Were A Prison” .. who would be breaking out of jail? and who would be getting shanked in the yard?

Speedchild: Saigon would be breaking out and Lil Wayne would be getting shanked.

HipHopLEAD: What is Speedchild’s long term goal for hiphop?

Speedchild: That hip hop is a religion thats universal. So I’m in this like a preacher who passes the basket around 2 times in church every Sunday cause he wants money. In other words I know I will be in this for the long haul either producing, promoting or managing after I go platinum & get that Grammy and sell it for a penny!

HipHopLEAD: Can you tell us the new title of your new mixtape coming soon?

Speedchild: The title of the new mixtape is “RED ROSES & BLOOD STAINS.”

HipHopLEAD: We heard it features Bizarre, Junior Lion, Jadakiss and Bounty Killer. How was it working with those established artists?

Speedchild: Working with those artists was a blessing and an experience. I will always remember it.

HipHopLEAD: Is it harder to be respected in hiphop as a “Indian rapper” ?

Speedchild: (laughs) I don’t realize I’m Indian at times. Life is not about color unless we talking about money & power so being Indian haven’t really gotten to anyone as yet.

HipHopLEAD: A lot of fusion genres and blended music aren’t too sucessful. Do you feel blending Reggae and HipHop might isolate you?

Speedchild: This fusion is good and only will be getting better as time passes. If you look at what I’m doing it’s very clever. I’m working with established artists who helps to push the music so it doesn’t stay stagnant in one category, so I’m avoiding isolation by doing that.

HipHopLEAD: Let’s get into some off the wall topics a little bit out of the norm… Is Bin Laden really dead?

Speedchild: Heck No!! He’s alive and well. The U.S. gave him the $25 mill to go relax and stop making audios & videos. Then Obama can get 4 more years and within that time we will loose the empire state building and blame it on the new leader of the Taliban! It’s all a damn business and these people are all about oil money!

HipHopLEAD: Being from New York … do the surrounding people support more or hate more?

Speedchild: I really can’t say because I dont give a damn what any of these people say out here.

HipHopLEAD: Slim Shady Lp or Encore?

Speedchild: Neither! But I will rock a Digital Dynasty mixtape anytime!

HipHopLEAD: LOL.. Are Aliens really visiting the Earth?

Speedchild: I’m a motherfuckin alien .. so thats a YES!

HipHopLEAD: Back To The Norm…. Name 1 song you’ve done that will have the HipHopLead.com viewers hooked!?

Speedchild: “On The Grind”, featuring Junior Lion. Go Listen to it on youtube or google “Speedchild”.

HipHopLEAD: Thanks for hollering at us and in closing give any shoutouts….links to your sites….F.U.’S or whatever’s clever.
