B. McCoy – Chi-Town/Cali Upcoming Rapper

B McCoy – Gone Now

Today we are kicking it with a new up and coming rapper named B. McCoy. He hails from Chicago and now California.

HipHopLEAD: You are from 2 important cities on the hiphop map. Where do you feel most like yourself … The Sunshine State or Chi-town?

B. McCoy: Chi-town, because I like the fact that it’s a fast city. I love how the clouds look over the skyline. Its nothing like cruising down the Dan Ryan. Chicago is its own movement it speaks for itself..

HipHopLEAD: Growing up with 8 siblings is no small task for any mother. You noted one of your biggest inspirations from seeing your Mom struggle. How do you think that effects B McCoy as an emcee?

B. McCoy: I seen life through my moms eyes as a young kid. I learned from my moms experiences to never settle for less. People always tell me this music thing is gone take a long time, I’m like so what this is what I wanna do. I feel like I had to grow up at a young age and it all comes out in my music.

HipHopLEAD: With such a large family, was your father around to help out?

B. McCoy: My real father wasn’t around, he passed away in 1998. I never met him before he died. But it doesn’t matter cuz I’m still here. I did have a father figure around but I don’t know what its like to have someone around that looks like me.

HipHopLEAD: How did your Fathers presence effect B McCoy as a person?

B. McCoy: He wasn’t around so it made me a stronger individual. At times I felt lost but it definitely made me stronger. But what don’t kill you makes you stronger right?

HipHopLEAD: How do you feel about the Newer rap artists from Cali saying the OG’s aren’t helping them?

B. McCoy: I feel like they should step up. It shouldn’t matter I feel like we kind of represent 2 different times anyway. We listened to them I think its time they listen to what we got to say. If the OG’s don’t help you got to help yourself. Keep grinding.

HipHopLEAD: Chi-Town definatley has there own breed of emcees. From Twista to Common to Kanye. How would you describe your style?

B. McCoy: I would describe my style as all of them rolled in one. Common wit the poetry, Twista wit the Kamikazee attitude and Kanye wit the soul.  I grew up off all their music so I feel like my music is a representation of all of them

HipHopLEAD: After that freestyle talent show you entered in high school …what made you want to do this full time?

B. McCoy: Hearing the crowd after every punchline, the feedback from the people is what kept me going.

HipHopLEAD: Are you on a label?

B. McCoy: No label situation yet, That’s what we working on. I am comfortable with the team around me though.

HipHopLEAD: Any new projects coming out? Any features?

B. McCoy: Look out for the EP Dreaming. Its gone be 6 to 7 tracks. I’m trying to figure out what features I want to use cuz it gotta make sense musically.

HipHopLEAD: How would you describe your style of hip-hop?

B. McCoy: Classy, Im doing what everybody been doing for years but im doing it my way. That’s what makes it classy.

HipHopLEAD: What’s your goal for the hip-hop game?

B. McCoy: To make some changes not necessarily political, just a change on how people think about life. My goal is to make sure that everybody who listens to my music gets the truth and gets to know me no bullshit.

HipHopLEAD: You were recently featured on the Ballerstatus, G Unit, Tha Advocate mixtape called “Digital Dynasty 14 (Hosted by 40 Glocc). Your song was a stand out…. were you happy with the response you received?
