Today we are chilling it with a new up and coming rapper named Tyjeï Diezle.
HipHopLEAD: How did you come up with the name?
Tyjei Diezle: Well, you know how some english rappers name themselves lil ‘ ” something “, well us haitians we have the same thing for nicknames. But in creole it’s Ti ‘ “something “. And my real name is Jerry. So i took the first letters of my name and created Tyjei. As for Diezle, my astrological sign is a fire sign, saggittarius, so gotta use diesel to fuel that fire.
HipHopLEAD: When did you decide to make the transition from breakdancing to the hiphop scene?
Tyjei Diezle: The day my dear friend, my mentor died. I needed something to express myself, get that anger and those feelings out. At this point breakdancing was dead in me .
HipHopLEAD: What is the hiphop scene like over there compared to on US soil?
Tyjei Diezle: It’s very different. The industry is not as big and it’s developing slowly.
HipHopLEAD: Who were your influences to get into music?
Tyjei Diezle: First and for most 2pac and The Outlawz, you have Treach ( Naughty By Nature) , Boot Camp Clik and Wu-Tang Clan. They all have something to do with the artist I am today.
HipHopLEAD: What projects have you released to date?
Tyjei Diezle: Up until today I’ve only released singles. I’m working hard on my upcoming projects.
HipHopLEAD: Are you on a label?
Tyjei Diezle: Yes. When i first started i was signed with a Montreal based label called Gangstalean Productions that i’m still associated with, and then i founded my own label which is Lawless’O'muzik Records. I’m also Zoe Pound affiliated.
HipHopLEAD: Any new projects coming out? Any features?
Tyjei Diezle: Yes, I’m planning on dropping a series of mixtapes named ” Voie Rapide ” ( Fast Lane ) in a few months, until I drop my first album, release date planned for spring 2011. And I have some features on the work with Stormey Coleman and Jay Jumpoff.
HipHopLEAD: How do you like the response you received on Digital Dynasty?
Tyjei Diezle: On the real I was surprised. I’m beyond happy that my name, my work would be amongst such great MCs, well known and well respected artists. I feel blessed to have the legendary Outlaw Hussein Fatal on my joint.
HipHopLEAD: Speaking of that … how did you song with the homie, Hussein Fatal come about?
Tyjei Diezle: The net is big , you gotta work your way through it, network is everything. I’m a long time fan of Fatal and it was my dream to collaborate with him, so I made it work.
