The Empire – Fayetteville Upcoming Hip Hop Group

Today we are chilling it with a new up and coming hiphop group called “The Empire”. Lets get right into it. In HipHop history, groups don’t usually last.

HipHopLEAD: How solid is the Empire’s foundation?

The Empire: We feel that our foundation is based in our love for the culture as well as our friendship. We are four people who feel we wouldn’t want to be in any other group.

HipHopLEAD: Who’s idea was it to form the group, and how did it come about?

The Empire: The group come out of Mistajay trying to do his solo album ,he wanted to get some features for that , the group evolved from an original collective called “Omega Clan“.

HipHopLEAD: For those that don’t know .. what are all the members names and what key elements do they bring to the group?

The Empire: Mista Jay, Prince Imperial, 5th Letter, & Speak No Evil lyricists and producers each in own right.

HipHopLEAD: Where area are yall reppin?

The Empire: The Empire is an underground American Hip-Hop group based out of Fayetteville,
NC.

HipHopLEAD: What made yall wanna get into HipHop?

The Empire: The love of the culture and the music from the Golden era of hip hop.

HipHopLEAD: Who were your influences to get into music?

The Empire: KRS -One, Wu Tang Clan, Nas, Rakim, Ice Cube, & Tribe Called Quest!!

HipHopLEAD: Good selection …What projects have you released to date?

The Empire: The digital download versions of NCC Records Presents the Empire and The Underground Experience Vol. 1, both available on our myspace www.myspace.com/nccrecordstheempire , and our most recent album “The Dark Ages“.

HipHopLEAD: Recently Waka Flocka said lyrics don’t matter. What is your opinion on that? and do lyrics matter to you in your music?

The Empire: Sadly in the commercial side of this game it seems like lyrics have become less important to people who do not understand the history and think of this music as more of a hustle and less as a part of a larger culture. But the reality still remains if you want to have longevity as an artist you have to mature. You would be hard pressed to find cats that have been around for any length of time that haven’t done that.

HipHopLEAD: Are you on a label?

The Empire: Right now we are on indie label -NCC Records started by Mistajay.

HipHopLEAD: Any new projects coming out? Any features?

The Empire: Several solo joints SpeaK no E.”The Deens Office”, 5th Letter “A Long Time Coming” Prince Imperial and another artist from the NCC collective female emcee MC Fab are doing “Couples Therapy Album” and Mistajay “One Heart Beat Away” some features are in the works but not officially confirmed right now so we won’t speak on them just yet.

HipHopLEAD: You guys have been on the road doing shows like crazy. Is the response different going from North Carolina, as far up as Rhode Island?

The Empire: The shows where more different than the responses, because of the type of some where part of The Underground Experience shows and others where organized by local artists.

HipHopLEAD: What is the groups best song recorded to date and why?

The Empire: “Message to Hip-Hop” the way it came to together with call-ins from Craig G (of the Juice Crew) Linque/Isis (of X- Clan) and MC Search just worked out so well we feel that it really speaks to the way we think about hip-hop.

HipHopLEAD: Here at HipHopLead.com we like to ask our features some questions that really are out of the norm.We do this because it gives the fans a broader outlook on you.So lets get it cracking ….

HipHopLEAD: Best hiphop group of all time?

The Empire: The feeling among us as a group some of us might say Run Dmc or Epmd .

HipHopLEAD: With all the big ego’s in Slaughterhouse do you guys think the group will last?

The Empire: We believe so because all of them have been through similar situations label wise. That is the common thread that ties them together they understand now there is strength in numbers and value of collaboration.

HipHopLEAD: If you could bring back any dead emcee … who would it be and why?

The Empire: It wouldn’t be just one it, would be two that where and are forever tied together Biggie and Tupac. It would change the complexion of the game right now. I would make some have to step there lyrical hustle up.

.

HipHopLEAD: Back To The Norm… Name 1 song you’ve done that will have the HipHopLead.com viewers hooked!?

The Empire: They can check out We Can make it

HipHopLEAD: Thanks for hollering at us and in closing give any shoutouts….links to your sites….F.U.’S or whatevers clever

The Empire: Big ABe, Big Bruce, DJ Flash Fader,Mic Will, Creep and Vintage …..We would like to send and extra special thanks to those who helped inspire the Dark Ages and lent there voices Craig G, Linque, and last but not least Mc Search.
