Moise Bently – West African Native Upcoming Artist
Today we are chilling it with a new up and coming the Ivory Coast, West Africa rapper named Moise Bently.
HipHopLEAD: How did you come up with the name?
Moise Bently: First off, thank you guys so much for the opportunity to put myself out there for people to get to know me, I truly appreciate it a ton! Moise is actually my real first name which is French for Moses. The gimmick Bently came from my love of the whip, its my preferred vehicle and I believe I’m exclusive, unique and come with impressive features like it ya know! just took the e out of it till they write me a couple checks haha.
HipHopLEAD: When did you make the transition from West Africa to the states?
Moise Bently: My family and I moved to the United States when I was about 10 to Milwaukee, Wisconsin the 414 one of the best cities in the United States! Then 7 years later we moved to Utah. I’ve fallen in love with the state and been in and out of there ever since it is where I currently reside its got some great people!!! Shouts to the 801 and 435!
HipHopLEAD: What is the hiphop scene like over there compared to on US soil?
Moise Bently: Honestly I was too young at the time to remember the hip hop scene, but I do know we had some great cultural music which definitely runs thru my blood today and inspires my hooks!!
HipHopLEAD: What made you wanna get into HipHop?
Moise Bently: I fell in love with the music. I mean I couldn’t even speak the English language and barely understood what they said back then, but I always jammed to it. I got here in 96 and if I remember correctly that’s when that Mase “Feel so good” record came out, it was my jam for real so I was running around tryna rhyme that. It was the first hip hop video I’d seen, with all the Benz n the ladies ..you know ! From there on it was always a dream for me to be on that screen someday stunting that hard and making great music.
HipHopLEAD: Who were your influences to get into music?
Moise Bently: Lets see.. I wrote my first rhyme to Fat Joe’s Lean Back, that record goes hard, I began rapping for fun after that. Fifth’s “Get Rich Or Die Tryin”, was like a major wake up call to get busy if i was gonna get into this bizness but my biggest inspiration came 2 n half years ago when I found out I was gonna have the blessing to be a father!
I knew I had to give this my all. 9 to 5 is a good grind but obviously raking in millions just to make good music and be able to provide for those you love? To whom doesn’t it appeal?
HipHopLEAD: What projects have you released to date?
Moise Bently: I haven’t released any official projects yet due to the fact that I want my first release to be a masterpiece and greatly appreciated by my fans. I’m a strategic kind of person and I believe in building enough fans before putting out something.
I’m not hustling, I’m grinding, growing as an artist while doing my best to create great music. I mean Labels don’t sign you without a fan base that’s just protocol specially today so what’s the point of me coming out with a cd to sell to a couple of my friends? (they the only ones that know your local) If it’s for the money by all means get it.
Aint nobody mad with that but I’m just shooting for the stars on my first attempt so for example this interview will put me on a bigger platform to draw more fans in and now we talking thousands of people and not 10 or 20. With that being said we are ready to release a project within a couple months so be on the lookout for that!!
HipHopLEAD: Are you on a label?
Moise Bently: No I am independent, definitely have some majors showing interest but were just doing us and looking for the right business deal!
HipHopLEAD: Any new projects coming out? Any features?
Yes we have an EP coming out within a few months as we feel we def have a little buzz out there. We can work with that makes more sense for us now we’re not local anymore!
HipHopLEAD: You opened up for alot of huge acts. Was there alot of pressure warming the crowd up before hand? And out of all the artists you met from doing shows did any of those emcees give you any good advice to get into the game?
Moise Bently: Honestly there was no pressure at all, once I step on that stage for me its like preaching time whether you want to or not you are gonna pay attention and like me. I give you no choice and that’s my mindset. I believe I was born to do this and you paid to see a show of course. I’m just a small fry but I definitely leave you with ur money’s worth! And yes, definitely I’ve met some great artists that took the time to share some incredible advice with me and they know who they are, I truly appreciate yaw!!
Cause we have to keep it real as well. I’ll say most major acts don’t take the time to meet us up and coming acts, they feel their too big which is cool u know, but u gotta remember at some point in your career you were in my shoes tryna get on. So I don’t trip when I don’t meet them but that is one thing I will do for sure if im blessed with the chance to be a major act someday u never know who they may turn out to be! That’s just a life lesson in general !
HipHopLEAD: Here at HipHopLead.com we like to ask our features some questions that really are out of the norm.We do this because it gives the fans a broader outlook on you.So lets get it cracking ….
