HipHopLEAD: What type of mindstate were you in when you wrote that incredible record,”Yes N Deed”?
Juggaknot: Thank yor for the incredible part appreciate that, I was in my regular ol’ mind state l wanna win with the records I make, I don’t write a verse in vein, or record a song just to be recording one I try to make every song GREAT and I want every verse I record to actually be on a project.
HipHopLEAD: For those that are getting to know you for the first time let em know the meaning behind your name.
Juggaknot: Juggaknot means unstoppable force, the real word anyway, so I spelled it how I wanted and rode with it. My homie actually gave me the name and I just researched it.
HipHopLEAD: Coming from Alexandria, Louisiana does it seem more of a curse then a gift being so far away from NYC and California’s hiphop scene?
Juggaknot: Hell yea! People say if you make it in New York you can make it anywhere, well if you make it in Louisiana you can make it anywhere because we have no resources that the big cities have like everything at there finger tips!
HipHopLEAD: Theres not too many real spitters left nowerdays…. does staying true to the artform like you do keep you from main stream radio play in your opinion?
Juggaknot: Naw, not really. I actually know how to create radio worthy gansgta shit. Check my single “Yes N Deed”. I think it is a completely balanced song for what I do with music.
HipHopLEAD: When did you decide “This is what I want to do”?
Juggaknot: When I started making half decent songs and they were better than some of your top 100 records on radio and albums for that matter.
HipHopLEAD: What is your main goal in the music industry?
Juggaknot: I gotta get to the Money and stay on my grind and keep in the back of my head that a nigga can’t shine. That’s the only win when you work in the streets. I’m trying to make my job these beats! (That’s one of my hooks too). But that’s what I’m trying to do get out the ghetto!
HipHopLEAD: What were your inspirations coming up?
Juggaknot: I was inspired by the Screwed Up Click really, I listened to everything but it was when I started to hear them dudes that I said I can do that for real. Then the fisrt SUC member dropped a album and I said I’m gone do that too and wa la here I am.
HipHopLEAD: When Katrina hit years ago did that effect you or where you were living in the state?
Juggaknot: I was living in the state, but my hometown 3 hrs north of N.O., so not really. We had alot of new faces in the city but it was what it was.
HipHopLEAD: For someone that never has heard a song by Jugg ..name one that will make them an instant fan?
Juggaknot: “Yes N Deed”, “Built 2 Grind”, “Gotta get to the $”, “City Lights” RMX, “Focus” man I could really name songs alllll day that a true rap/hip-hop fan absolutely have to like!
HipHopLEAD: Here at HipHopLead.com we like to ask questions out of the norm so the fans can get a broader understanding on you…so here we go …… Rate President Obama 1 thru 10 on his performance so far?
Juggaknot: I aint gone lie my nigga I was fighting a case when got elected, doing time for that case his first 1½ yrs in office, so I really can’t rate dude. It’s like this too the President don’t call the shots Congress and the House do. So who would I be rating. He a gentleman who speaks well and make more money than me, I see them type all day everyday!
HipHopLEAD: The best food spot in Alexandria?
Juggaknot: My mama House!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
HipHopLEAD: Before getting into hiphop what were you doing to make a living?
Juggaknot: Why you gotta ask that? You listened to some of the music, it’s not hard to tell I had jobs too. When I was 14 my mama told me if I get a job I can get gold teeth and a car. I was working like a mug hustling out the back of DQ. But I went through shit. Check my wrap sheet. It’s fucked up but it made me who I am….. a WINNER!
HipHopLEAD: Would you sign to Suge Knight’s new label?
Juggaknot: Yea, I would on my terms, I’ll sign any where and I’ll tell any label no too. You can’t miss what you didn’t or don’t have. So if for some reason a situation was presented to me and didn’t materialize I wouldn’t be fucked about it.
HipHopLEAD: If you could sign with any label in the game right now who would it be?
Juggaknot: Whoever is paying the most, for real. I like the look Maybach Music is getting right now. I’ll do Cash Money but they shelve you mayne. I’m cool being on WDH .. cause I call the shots!
