Diego Cash – Carmello Anthony Artist

He’s FlY- He’s FRESH- He’s DIEGO CASH: an intimate look inside the vault of Diego Cash.

Cash had a chance to sit down with PJ PREMIER (Jackson) of HIP HOP LEAD.com to discuss some of his intimate thoughts about music and how he in fact linked up with one of the most fledging labels out today. It was also discussed how he teamed up with NBA Star Carmello Anthony to get signed to his record label Krossover Entertainment.

HipHopLEAD: Tell Us a bit about yourself, Where are you from and where did you first start rapping (college, neighborhood etc.)

Diego Cash: I was born in Brooklyn Hospital in Brooklyn NY, i then moved to Atlanta during middle school and have been here ever since (half my life up top half down south) i started rappin my senior year in high school.

HipHopLEAD: In your Bio it mentions something’s about Hardcore lyrics- If you had to put it in your own words, How would you describe your style of rapping.

Diego Cash: I wouldn’t describe my lyrics as hardcore but more so realistic and how i described my upbringing i have genuine roots in the north and south so my style and swag is unseen in today’s game.

HipHopLEAD: Before you began to become this big rapper you came in contact with a very adverse tragedy, how did that affect your out look on life and as a rapper in your music?

Diego Cash: I would say it jus made me be more focused on my life and goals period every aspect. and I in turn put much more focus and dedication into my craft

HipHopLEAD: Can you explain to some of our readers the story of your tragedy?

Diego Cash: Its somewhat cliché, the same story as many of your family members or people from your neighborhoods I was in the streets and street shit happens when u out there… i was shot in 2003 required 2 surgeries and a colostomy bag for a month I was bed ridden for 3 months and even needed assistance sitting up…

HipHopLEAD: After you had a true since of renewed spirit, did you have a special plan or way you wanted to go after being a rapper?

Diego Cash: I wouldn’t say I necessarily had a plan I jus knew my path I was on was a dead end street and I had to change routes.

HipHopLEAD: What’s the story of how you found the owner of your record label Krossover Entertainment-Carmello Anthony?

Diego Cash: I’ve known melo for 7 yrs now i meet him through my sister lala and we instantly clicked I would count him as one of my best friends.

HipHopLEAD: What role does he play in your existing career…. with him always being on the road?

Diego Cash: He plays a major role in my career regardless of where he is because I take a lot of trips with him and we are constantly in touch we have a studio built in his house and one in Atlanta so its constant work and progress.

HipHopLEAD: With you’re your background having a few different cultures; what would you say has been your most influence in your music and your lyrics?

Diego Cash: The biggest influence in my music more so than my cultural background ( im Puerto Rican) is my neighborhoods and people I interact with

HipHopLEAD: What producer would you most like to work with that would give you that sound?

Diego Cash: I love working with my produced and homie Soundz first and foremost but if it was one producer I would really want to work with I would definitely have to say Pharell.

HipHopLEAD: So your album is coming soon and you have various guest appearances that are showing up; what was your favorite collaboration thus far?

Diego Cash: As of now I would have to say Macy Grey jus because it’s so different and such a new sound.

HipHopLEAD: Most athletes have a workout regimen to keep them in shape; do you have a work out regimen as a rapper/lyricist? Do you have any superstitions that you carry out before a show or stepping into the booth?

Diego Cash: I wouldn’t say so i jus like to feel good about myself so before i go to the studio i always shower and put some fresh shit on, when u look good u feel good and that translates in the music

HipHopLEAD: With you being on a label with other notable artist, does this ever intimidate you to do better or create inner competition???

Diego Cash: Its definitely competition but its friendly no negative energy its always good to be around other talented artists it brings the best out of you.

HipHopLEAD: If you were on the other side of this record deal and you was trying to get one, What would be your advice to a young rapper today?

Diego Cash: It isn’t over night its a long grind I’ve been at it for almost 10 yrs now… so buckle up its a long ride.

HipHopLEAD: Now that music has changed drastically, what do you think is the formula for success or shall I say to move units in this ever changing music market?

Diego Cash: I jus think u have to take advantage of all your outlets with the internet everything is so much more accessible and u have to take advantage of that

HipHopLEAD: When the day comes that you finally leave rapping and you move into promoting artist yourself, what would you like for your legacy to be in music?

Diego Cash: I like jay-z say I want to be “forever young”…. unforgettable

HipHopLEAD: Thank you for the time you spent with us today, I would like to know is there any last words you would like to leave us with?

Leave us your contact information and where we can find some of your music and stay in touch with you!

Diego Cash: Thanks for the interview its greatly appreciatted…. cash
