Ak49rz – Alaska Upcoming Hip Hop Group

Today we are chilling it with a new rap group called the Ak49rz.

AK49rz group consists of  Jak Frost, Yong G Pla Boy, Maverick, Two Face, Ceazie Sced Bizzel and Drail.

HipHopLEAD: Speaking for the group will be Jak Frost and Drail. For starts where did the name come from?

JF: Well to make a long story short were from the 49th state so we came up with ak49rz. We rep this state like its a whole other country.

HipHopLEAD: It’s no secret that Alaska is not known for being a “hiphop state” as of yet. Do you think branding Alaska as a staple in the hiphop scene is going to be hard or easy?

JF: I think its gonna be easy because hip hop is always lookin for somthin new and were are definately new and we have what it takes to be the next best thing.

HipHopLEAD: Most people associate Sarah Palin with Alaska nowerdays … How do you guys feel about the former governer?

JF: Well politically nothing, but she definately got the worlds attention and her book has sold millions, so how could I be mad @ that. I respect anyone gettin money especially on that level. I look at that like she made it easier for us to get some publicity.

HipHopLEAD: Do you think being from Anchorage makes it alot harder to get the fame and recognition you deserve?

JF: Oh definately we are deprived of opportunities that people in the lower 48′s are because theres no real industry up here so we have to reach out to everyone . Thanks to the big homie Joker The Bails Bondsman doing videos on BET uncut, he also got the lower 48′s attention with all his videos ( free joker ). We gotta do alot just to get noticed. Its like we dont even exist up here… hahaha I love it though gives us a challenge.

HipHopLEAD: What made you guys pick up a mic and get busy?

JF: The love for music period we have always been into music of all kinds and once we started to makin our own songs as kids in like ’96 everyone around here was like like yall have talent then we persued it and now here we are.

HipHopLEAD: Are you doing anything else other then rapping? producing? mixing? etc?

JF and Drail: We”ve got our hands in a bunch of little money making investments. Me and my step dad started a air purifying business called the indoor solution ( you can check out our website www.akindoor.com.) we are also involved in the tele communications business wireless and internet called “ak wireless”.

HipHopLEAD: Who were your influences to get into music?

JF: We like old school people like Rakim, Gang Starr,( rip guru) Rob Base of course the old LL cool J (Laughs) Ice Cube of course 2pac and Biggie… then leading into the new school people like Jay z, Lil Wayne, T.I.., 50cent and Young Jeezy people like them… I fuck wit Gucci Mane too.

HipHopLEAD: Out of all the projects have you released to date, which is your favorite and why?

JF: My latest solo album Jak Frost “Frostbite”, it’s just an all around good album. I got production from Rawbeatzz and of course me… I got collabs wit all the hot artists in my city and I got a song that’s a banger called “Do it like me” feat. Sean Paul from the Young Bloods. My number one single is called “Caked Up” feat. Rawbeatzz and Ceizie Sced Bizzle. but “the prospect” and “gold rush” are classics …. our albums are available on itunes….. check us out!!!!!

HipHopLEAD: Any new projects coming out? Any features?

JF: We workin on a double cd called Ak49rz “The Blue and Gold” album because that’s are state flag colors.

HipHopLEAD: You guys have been making a mark in the Digital Dynasty mixtape series, aswell as the Unsigned On The Grind. Are you happy with the response you have recieved to date?

JF: Yes!! We are were getting tons of recognition and great download success on itunes! That’s exactly what we want…to be heard.

HipHopLEAD: What’s a normal day for the ak49erz like?

JF: Gettin Money all day er’ day

HipHopLEAD: Some people might hear of “rappers from alaska” and say “its not hood, or not hiphop” … how do you respond to that?

JF: Everyones entitled to there own opinion but there’s a hood in every city believe it or not and its is definately hood up here no doubt…if you’ve never been here u have to see for yourself. We dont rap about nothing we aint done seen, been through, or still doin… feel me.

HipHopLEAD: Which hip hop groups are your favorite and why?

JF: As far as groups these days I’ma have to say Young Money because there’s different styles but they all bring somthing to the table and that’s how the ninrz are we all specialize in something different ..but it blends perfect.

HipHopLEAD: “Caked up” is a real hiphop track with an anthem kind of feel to it. What made you guys come up with that concept and why?

JF: Because that’s what were doin exactly what the song says, thats the kind of motivation music I like to here when I’m riding and so does everyone else around me.

HipHopLEAD: Here at hiphoplead.com we like to ask our features some questions that really are out of the norm. We do this because it gives the fans a broader outlook on you. So lets get it cracking ….

JF: Bet I’m with it.

HipHopLEAD: What is your opinions on the whole Solar and Guru situation before he passed away?

JF: Man its a tragedy you know …he was a legend and pioneer alot of young guys these days never even heard his music. I was blessed to have owned the old tapes and records of theres.

HipHopLEAD: What is one of the best, most timeless, heartfelt hiphop songs you ever heard?

JF: Man that’s a hard one. I’ma say 2pac “Dear Mama” because I’m from the projects and that’s how I was raised just my mom and my sisters ..so the streets was my father growin up.

HipHopLEAD: Back to the norm…. Name 1 song you’ve done that will have the hiphoplead.com viewers hooked!?

JF: “Caked up” becuase everyone can relate to getting money…it makes the world go round.
