Nike Addresses Surprise Release of Kanye’s Red October Sneakers

Out of nowhere this weekend, Kanye West highly anticipated  Red October Yeezy sneakers sold out in minutes. This came as a shock to many because there was no official release date given but a Nike representative has now spoken out to explain the reason.

As stated in the Wall Street Journal. “A representative for Nike said in an email “Nike was committed to releasing the Red color way. And it was clear the consumer was asking for it. Nike communicated directly to nearly 2.6 million Twitter followers when we made it available for purchase….This is the final shoe in the Yeezy collection.” A representative for Kanye West did not return a request for comment.

The exclusive shoes became out of stock in a little over ten minutes.

“Without warning, Nike tweeted a purchase link to their online store at 1 p.m. EST. Only 11 minutes later, the $245 shoe was sold out, leaving many fans upset that they couldn’t get their hands on a pair. It’s unknown if Nike plans to release more online or at retail stores. Nike launched the original Air Yeezy in 2009 and followed it up with two colorways of the Air Yeezy II in 2012. Due to the limited quantity, the shoe fetched as much as $90,000 on eBay.”(Rap-Up)
