Ja Rule will be heading to jail on 8 June. The rapper (real name Jeffrey Atkins), appeared in court in Manhattan where a judge granted the request to slide his entrance behind bars, to allow him to finish the new album “Renaissance Project” and settle some debts with the U.S. tax authorities.
“We want to finish the album and then there are outstanding issues with the IRS. An accountant made a mistake in the accounts and submitted false tax returns, so my client wants to first settle this aspect,” said Stacey Richman, lawyer of the artist.
Ja Rule, was sentenced to two years in prison after pleading guilty last December to the crime of illegal possession of a firearm. The sentence refers to the events of July 2007, when police found a loaded gun in his car.
The rapper also plans to shoot a reality show on a strong and united family. The audience will see how to face adversity carrying the head high. There’s my wife, our children, our mothers. Together we will spend the most of these months that separate me from the entrance to the prison, “said the rapper.
This morning Ja took to Twitter and announced the official release date for the album is June 7th.
We are waiting for it Ja!
