Eminem Rejects Movie Role Due To Location
Detroit rapper Eminem does not hide the love he has for his hometown of Detroit, Michigan but his feelings reportedly caused the rapper from being picked for the leading role in the upcoming, sci-fi flick Elysium.
The lead role in the film was given to Matt Damon, who was the third choice of Elysium director Neil Blomkamp. Rolling Stones states that the top priority was given to South African rapper Ninja but he also turned down the role due to location.
Despite the opportunity, Eminem has not shown or expressed eagerness to return to Hollywood. In a recent interview with Rap Fix, Em said it would take a “dope” script or role to take him away from music and back to acting.
“There are some things in the [works], a couple of scripts,” Eminem revealed. “I guess it’s more so of just waiting now to see how they come together. Obviously it’s gotta be something that I feel is dope enough to make me want to say, ‘OK, let me put the mic down for a second and go do this movie.’ There are some things that are in the works. I guess we’ll just see how they come together.”
