Maybe because the hip-hop mogul is already making nice with the guy who got socked in the kisser at Kiosk.
Combs and Steven Acevedo were spotted Monday night at Butter in the Village. They chatted for about an hour, then parted ways and pretended to ignore each other the rest of the night, sources said.
So it wasn’t really a shock when Combs’ lawyer, Benjamin Brafman, said yesterday that he didn’t think his client would be trading in his Rolexes for handcuffs.
“We are hopeful that this matter will be resolved without the filing of any criminal charges as this was a disagreement among acquaintances, not a criminal assault,” he said.
Cops had planned to charge Combs with third-degree assault, a misdemeanor, and issue him a desk appearance ticket when he surrendered. But police sources said it is unlikely charges will be filed if Acevedo, 31, backs off the complaint he made after Saturday’s fracas. “A little money will change hands, and the punch will be like it never existed,” a police source said.
Acevedo told cops he and Combs were arguing over a woman when the Bad Boy honcho hit him twice. Sources said a member of his entourage allegedly boasted to Acevedo, “We won’t shoot you. You can even hold our guns.”
But no weapon was displayed or seen by witnesses, the sources said.
