Akon’s Konvict Label’s Rap Artist “Dolla” Shot And Killed

Rapper Dolla (born Roderick Anthony Burton II), 21 years, was shot and killed while waiting in the valet area of the upscale Beverly Center mall in Los Angeles on Monday 18 May, in a brash daylight assault that had peoples diving for cover as shots rang out.

According to the Los Angeles Times, the up-and-coming rapper, signed to Akon’s Konvict Muzik label in 2007, had flown to Los Angeles on Monday morning to begin work on his debut album, which was slated for release this summer.

The Times reports, police said the suspect in the case fled the scene in a silver Mercedes SUV and that a “person of interest” was detained while approaching the ticketing area at Los Angeles International Airport armed with a gun.
